Development Update #3

I completely blanked on posting our development update for last month!

We talked about some changes and very preliminary creatures. I again apologize for my weird microphone issues. I promise we’ll get that fixed!

  1. I recently did a test to show what distance is in the orbit player function in code spells alpha. I found that it is not the radius as the distance is != orb distance from player and also not the circumference as 2*Pi*orb distance to player != distance, instead it was something else. What is the distance parameter in the orbit player and orbit creator functions?

      It should be the radius in meters. I’ll look into that!

  2. are the worlds randomly generated? or do you just play on the same one each time?

      The alpha currently is all procedurally generated, but it’s always the same seed. We’ll be adding the ability to change the seed soon!

    First off, yay Alpha launch, and congrats on a Kickstarter reward being released *earlier* than originally stated!

    Second point: Is there a plan to add in extra orb calls? Right now we can only run code at the beginning (during orb setup) and if it hits something. So as far as I can tell we cannot say, tell an orb to fly x second or x units then do something else? That’s probably my biggest issue right now, as it puts quite a few limits on things.

    Otherwise, it looks and runs great!

  4. Will coupling between spells and or global variables be available in later versions of the game?

      Yes, we’re working on a way to couple between spells. You can create global variables within a spell, but we are not planning on being able to make shared global variables across spells.
